Chapter 3 - "You Have Three Daughters Who Still Need You"
Grant's brother was around constantly after the accident. He changed a tire in the rain once, because I'd forgotten cars still needed ordinary things even after your whole life had ended. But whenever I brought up the lake, something closed over in his face.
"Andrea, you have to stop."
"I just want to understand—"
"You can't."
"What if they missed something in the search?"
"They looked for weeks."
"What if Grant turned the boat around because something happened?"
Marcus would rub both hands down his face and land on some version of the same line. "You have three daughters who still need you."

I hated him for saying that. Not because he was wrong. Because it sounded too much like: forget the other four.
