Chapter 5 - The Boutique CoordinatorThe private dining room had erupted. A server hurried toward the entrance. Against the wall sat a rolling clothing rack holding three garment bags, and beside it stood a woman I didn't recognize, in a sleek black suit with a boutique badge on her shoulder.

Apparently Camille had arranged for several women's dresses to be delivered straight to the restaurant for final fittings before the family photos.

Simon stood nearby. Rowan looked deeply uncomfortable. Camille had one hand wrapped tight around a garment bag's handle.

"Ma'am, please release the garment," the coordinator said calmly.

"I paid for these dresses!"

"You paid deposits."

"Don't play games with me."

"Camille, let the woman do her job," Rowan said.

She spun toward him. "This is our property!"

"No," the coordinator said. "The garments remain boutique property until the clients accept them and the remaining balances are paid." She added, "You also disputed the remaining charges after demanding we deliver the dresses here tonight."

Rowan stared at his wife. "You did what?"

"There were problems with the orders," Camille said.

"Problems you requested," the coordinator replied. "We have records of every size change and alteration you authorized."

Camille turned to the restaurant manager. "Are you seriously going to let this woman leave with thousands of dollars of clothing I paid for?"

He stayed calm. "She has documentation showing the garments belong to the boutique."

"Nobody is taking them."

The coordinator reached for the bag. "Ma'am, I need you to release it."

"I said no."

"If you refuse to return property belonging to the boutique," the manager said, "I'll have to call the police."

May you like

"Go ahead," Camille said.

So he did.
