I was sitting in the study of our six-million-dollar estate in Pacific Palisades, California, finishing acquisition agreements for my commercial architecture firm. For four years, I had financed Desmond's expensive lifestyle, paid off his gambling debts, and funded his boutique fitness startup. Meanwhile, my parents had always treated Bianca like the golden child who could do no wrong, expecting me to step aside whenever she wanted something that belonged to me.
Two days earlier, Desmond claimed he was flying to Nevada for an urgent angel investor retreat, while Bianca told our family she was visiting college friends in Phoenix.
Instead, they were carrying out the ultimate betrayal. Desmond apparently believed that persuading a rogue Las Vegas chapel officiant to perform a quick ceremony would give him leverage to force a huge financial settlement while running off with my sister.
I stared at the screen without shedding a tear. Then I calmly typed one four-letter word.

After that, I went straight to work. Within twenty minutes, I logged into our private wealth portal and froze every secondary credit card under Desmond's name. As the sole proprietor and authorized signatory of the family holdings company that owned our real estate, vehicles, and investment capital, I placed an emergency administrative freeze on his corporate draw accounts.
