Chapter 6 - The Wrong Miracle

Ten minutes later I was in a vinyl chair with a newborn girl tucked against my chest.
Six pounds, four ounces. Twelve hours old. Hands like curled petals.
Her fingers opened once against my shirt and closed again.
I forgot to breathe.
Daniel crouched down next to the chair. "Are you sure? Because if you're not—"
"We spent years wishing the boys could have a little sister."
He went completely still.
I looked down at her face. "Maybe we were just waiting for the wrong miracle."
